I needed to cut a rectangular opening in a sheet metal wall panel in order to reroute an external mail slot into the house. Since the sheet metal was covered with drywall, I didn’t have much room to work with so I purchased the nibbler. To use the tool properly, I also purchased an inexpensive 3000 rpm corded drill. The Nibbler was pretty intuitive and easy to use and made short work of the sheet metal. All in all, the tool did the job at a reasonable price.

I am using this tool to cut shapes out of 20 gauge sheet metal. It has its limitations, but does a great job at "freehanding" shapes, curves and angles. It does very little to distort the metal at the cut, nothing that a little grinding and filing won't fix. The width of the cut (kerf?) is around 1/8"-1/4", but if you plan your cut around this, it's not an issue. Have not tried a straight line cut, but if you fashion a fence for it, I believe it would do that as well. I have not attempted any cutting on heavier gauge metal, but it does 20 to 24 gauge effortlessly. Way better than tin snips or any other handheld nibbler. Learning curve is simple, just use a good drill that will do the stated RPM's and you are off and running.

Sweet little gadget. Appears to be machined pretty well and the contruction overall is sturdy. I'm using this in conjunction with a run of the mill 20V Dewalt drill and this thing cuts through sheet metal like a proverbial hot knife through proverbial butter. Cuts nice, clean edges and is very easy to steer and control. The extra cutters and accessories are a nice bonus as well and with the included case, it all fits neatly in the drawer of my toolbox that holds the rest of my sheet metal tools. Nice addition to my collection.
