This exceeded my expectations. It cycles through solid colors, and then combinations. The base is so gorgeous it could be a lamp of it's own really. It does require AAA batteries, not AA batteries, so I do not currently own any rechargeables. I was a bit disappointed by that, but the beauty of the lamp more than made up for it. Make sure that you have a small screwdriver on hand to release the battery cover. After that, it does latch on it's own without the screw. I highly recommend this product. The shipping was super fast and the product arrived in excellent condition.

This takes 3 AAA batteries and it does come with a usb cable that works to power the thing. The picture shown with the 13” fiber optic strands is what was received. This does not spin when you power it on, it cycles through colors.

The seller ended up pulling the product from their store to fix the USB vs battery issue that I was having! They offered me a choice of replacement when this issue was fixed or a refund. I opted for the replacement, because my brother is special needs and he really enjoys items like this. They let me know when item was shipped, it arrived quickly and it works great too! Don't hesitate to buy from this seller....A+
