For the money I think the board and pieces are great. Sure I wish the board was a bit thicker and pieces were a tad heavier but it's super affordable....More
For the money I think the board and pieces are great. Sure I wish the board was a bit thicker and pieces were a tad heavier but it's super affordable. I love the big size to match our vinyl board and having the compact storage is key. Bought some wooden checkers to match and my family and I are happy.

I bought 15 of these sets for my class. Are they perfect? No, but they are IMO excellent for the price. The pieces have good storage, are weighted well, and of decent quality. Some of the boards do have slight alignment issues but very little. I do wish they had an extra queen but no big deal. For the price, this is an excellent set. For my class, I am glad I went this direction rather than the vinyl mat type.

Wow this is a really nice set perfect size and good workmanship itâ€™s not made in china thank Goodness but in Poland. All the pieces are very nicely done and have good weight to them. The knights are not very elaborate but at this price point I wasnâ€™t expecting it to be the fancier the knights the more expensive the set, of coarse the kind of wood factors into that also but this company seems to be green because they use plantation wood for this set. All in all I am very happy with this set and at sub 100 bucks you get a set that seems like it will bring years of chess to me and the kids.

Nice quality and had some weight to the pieces. Very cool how it folds up for easy travel and storage. Were pleasantly surprised at the quality. We thought it was going to be too large; however we and others thought it was a nice size and easier to use than the small ones and priced right.

Recently my younger son decided to purchase a larger set and after looking at 15 inch sets priced in the mid 20's we decided to spend more to be sure we got something we liked. We love this set, it's nice to play with over 2 inch squares and large weighted pieces. The craftsmanship exceeds what we expected at this price point. I think negative reviews here regarding the quality either didn't get a set built to the standard we received or they are perfectionists with demands out of line with the price the set is offered at. Wiegel's website has a photo gallery of their factory if you're interested in seeing how the boards and pieces are made.
