    A final note on technique: A lot of instructions for using an oral irrigator suggest parting your lips to allow water to flow out of your mouth and into the sink. Don't do this. It can be manageable, but will still occasionally cause a mess. Just keep your lips closed around the tip, and turn the thing off briefly every few seconds while you spit out the water. Trivial and clean.

    I brushed every day. I flossed often but not every day. Apparently that fact didn’t get past my dental hygienist who recommended that I buy this. Well, let me tell you……this thing does twice the job that flossing does. In fact, I’m pretty amazed how many food particles come out of my mouth and into the sink compared to when I flossed. I can only assume that before I started using this, those food particles were ending up below my gum line which could explain my periodontal issues and the fact that I now have to have the deep root cleanings every 4 months to prevent further deterioration of root/bone. Hopefully this device will keep things from getting worse. Suffice it to say, you aren’t getting everything out from between your teeth and below your gum line by just brushing and flossing. Believe me.

    I like that it's compact on the countertop, and that the two nozzles store under the cover along with the water reservoir. I open the cover, pop a nozzle in, fill the reservoir with warmish water, set the dial to the right pressure--I go for 10, my wife prefers 8--and go to work on my teeth.
