I've been in the market for a new chess board. I did some research on "large chess boards" and "large chess pieces", and i settled on taking a chance on this particular one. I will not lie, I was worried the entire time that once received I wasn't going to like it. I thought it would be smaller than what I had hoped for and I thought that it was going to be made of poor quality. I received my board in 2 days after I was advised that it would take 5 days. (GREAT JOB AMAZON!!!). I could not wait to open it and even then I felt a little scared because I didn't know what to expect. But even before I opened it, the reported 5 pounds was felt almost immediately. I then became extremely excited. I wanted a heavier board. Opened up the box to find a really secured and tightly wrapped product. Once opened, I immediately saw the beautiful craftsmanship of the board. Beautifully engraved and stained. Before I took the pieces out, I wanted to know where it was made.

This is a very nice detailed chess set. It is exactly what I was looking for. The traditional looking pieces take the guess work out of what piece is what. I feel the description of the product is accurate. The pieces are light, not weighted. The hinges are small but they are effective. The storage area with green felt is a sufficient way to store the pieces. If they can survive shipping and not sustain any damage I'm pretty sure they can survive in my house sitting on a shelf. The visual appeal is what sets it apart from many others. There are nice details on the pieces and the board that make them stand out. It is great for game play and also as a show piece in the house if you so choose.

The figures are beautiful and neat, from the board do not slip through magnetic coating, at the same time very easy to move your hand during the game (it is practically not felt that there is a magnet when you take the figure from the board). Ordered the board 25x25 cm. The board itself is compact, the shapes are comfortable and quite thick. If for home use, you can take a board larger, if not very often play or take with you, then the board is 25x25 cm. That's great. The packing is good, the board itself in the box and package; the top is "puff" packing in several layers. Recommend

The production on this set is very high quality, I was worried about the folding board, as I've never had one that sat flush or closed properly, but this one seems perfect in that regard. The pieces are large and well produced, with nice lines and they feel and look great. The only possible downside is the lack of weighting on the pieces themselves, but don't let that put you off. This is a great display board for study/lounge and will be a delight to play with, even if its not tourney quality.
