I purchased this watercolor set because I am trying to start a visual journal. I expected (based on other ratings) to simply have a decently affordable set of boring watercolors at worst. But they colors really are shimmery, even when I am layering colors and watercolor pencils. So far, I have stenciled over them and done image transfers with acetone and the colors still hold up beautifully!

These paints are a gem. They offer a beautiful pearlescent sheen to any thing you paint. You can even use the white to add a sheen to a previously painted color without changing the color. The pans are a bit shallow but I've been using them almost daily and I haven't reached the bottom of one yet. A little goes a long water. The pigments do lay down richly is why. There's no ill feeling residue on the pain Ted surface after it dries which sometimes happens in cheaper paints. This is an addictive bang for your buck. I would love to add photos but for some reason the option to do so doesn't appear anywhere on my phone this week which is weird.

Very subtle pigment as you would expect for watercolor. And quantity is modest but for the price, really nice. I built layets up on water color paper and liled the results. I would recommend for small kids to adults.
