   Hooked it up to my Dewalt cordless drill; and really dig it! (pun intended) your mileage may vary based on the soil you are trying to get into; for example, once I was careless enough to drive it into the ground with a single hand (Terrible mistake, don't try this at home) the bit caught up to a rock and the force of my drill twisted my wrist like a rubber band.
   
   Please be careful and control your drill speed and always try to drive it with two hands.
   
   Another tip I found useful, don't drive it as if you were drilling a hole in pine, instead go in more or less slowly and try holding it at a certain depth so it pulls dirt out instead of simply going into the ground, it also helps if you keep getting it in and out while the drill works so you pull dirt out faster.
   
   Over all if you are careful and patient, you will be able to dig almost 2 feet deep wholes for whatever you want to plant in less than 30 seconds.
   
   If your soil is too rocky you may have different results so please be careful.

   I needed to fertilize a large tree with 24 fertilizer spikes. Plus I wanted to insert the fertilizer spikes deep into the ground to prevent fertilizing, and possibly burning, the grass. This auger worked well with my cordless 19.2v drill. The ground was damp from recent rain, which may have made the project easier. I had to pull up on the drill/auger every few inches to prevent it from becoming too difficult to extract the auger and soil. The auger required much less effort compared to hammering. Inserting 24 fertilizer stakes took about a half-hour. FYI, there were a few locations where I could not drill down the full length of the auger, presumably due to stones or roots. But I was able to drill down deep enough to cover the fertilizer spike. At those shallower locations the grass turned a deeper green but did not show signs of browning due to too much fertilizer. I'm very happy with this product.

   I have rough, rocky clay soil that has always been a challenge to start new flower beds in. I was using a mini tiller but it often got jammed due to the rocks getting stuck in it. This is a real answer to my problem. I am finally able to dig holes for new plants in way less time. This quality tool just plows through the dirt and brings up the rock very quickly to have nice deep holes to plant the new plants in. It is so amazing that I put in two new flower beds with nice deep holes. I have been using the large auger but am looking forward to use the smaller one for bulbs this fall. Great value and this is really made to last!
