We love this product! My husband and I purchased two, one for each Labrador Retriever, which both love the water so very much. We have a new boat and wanted to keep our fur family together on the lake this summer. These are perfect safety and functional devises for our pets, Molly (black lab, weight 59lbs) and Chloe (brown lab, 61lbs). We put the vests on while the swim so they can be easily seen by other boaters, which keeps them safe and protected. Plus, when they get fatigued on long laps, we don’t worry about them going under. When our pups finish swimming, the handles allow us to pick up the pups from the water with ease -allowing for an enjoyable experience for both us and our dogs. On hot days, we wet the device and it serves another very important role, it keeps our dogs cool and comfortable! Every dog owner, with access to water, lake/ocean/pool, needs this product!!

Doggie life jackets run the range from absolute crap to human-worthy support. Outward Hound is definitely the latter. I have a standard poodle who weighs about 55 pounds - long body, long legs, deep chest and small waist - so he can be tricky to fit. The large Dawson Buoyant life jacket fit him perfect, with enough adjustability to fit both his chest and waist. The color is perfect because I can see it from far away, and so can boaters. My dog can swim, but sometimes I need to haul him out of the water into my kayak, and it is impossible without a handle, so this life jacket makes it easy to get him into the boat. It also acts as peace of mind if I fall in the water and can't help him, because it helps him stay afloat even when he isn't paddling.

First I tried one (same brand) with Velcro on the belly area. Dog didn’t like it, too much fiddling and sliding around. I didn’t like the Velcro either; it’s clumsy and not even well spaced for the size of the jacket. Doesn’t feel very secure either. So I ordered this one which has two snaps and no Velcro. Dog loves it so much it’s like clothing, wants it back on even after I take it off. Very easy to use.

My German Shepherd weighs 110 lbs so I got the XL and it fits like a glove! As you can see he's a handsome boy sporting orange! Easy to see if he falls in the Canal or Ocean! I gave him some training in the pool to give him confidence of the jacket. He's a 1 1/2 yrs old and stills chases and plays hard. Jumping onto our boat is a safety precaution and those handles on the back has many purposes! Nice quality too!

This is a must have for anyone who has a dog who is around water! Yes my pup can swim but things happen and I am now assured that accidents wont happen (only speaking of drowning accidents) when my little girl is around water. And this thing will definitely keep her afloat if she was ever to be swept out by a wave while we are playing at the beach one day. This life jacket is heavy duty! You adjust strap lengths according to the size of your dogs neck and again under the belly area and secured the buckle snaps. There is velcro that closes over the neck buckle to make sure it stays and your pup isn’t able to compromise it with their mouth. The vest also has a hand grab on the back which is a plus for those moments that we might have to react quickly to. I paid full price and am not getting any compensation for my feedback so I want everyone to know that

Our dog loves this life jacket! He can swim without it but just not well or for very long. In the mornings he would try to get into it himself so we would go throw the ball into the lake for him! Medium fit perfectly for our oddly shaped dog. Has different velcro and buckles to change sizes and make it a custom fit!
