Diatom Earth Japanese Bath Mat

Available in three natural colors, using Diatomaceous Earth (DE) from Ishikawa and Akita Prefectures, the Diatom Earth Japanese Bath Mat absorbs water instantly, leaving your feet dry, clean and free from bacteria that traditional bath mats harbor.

This bath mat is entirely natural, with nothing else added and does not require any washing. It’s simply harvested and molded, using craftsmen’s trowels.

Diatomaceous soil is made from tiny, fossilized water plants that existed in the prehistoric period so when you dry your feet, you’ll be standing on thousands of years of Earth’s history!

The secret to the mat’s moisture-wicking quality lies in the millions of naturally occurring, microscopic holes which make it incredibly porous and deodorizing. The tiny particles in the diatomite soil allow water to evaporate quickly in natural air, eliminating the safe haven for mold, mildew, and bacteria.

    These are easy to set up as you would a normal bathroom mat, just planning them on the floor here you would put a standard mat. My only issue is the size of the mats. They are much tinier than I believed they would be, measurements included. These are ideal for small bathrooms, or at least won't looks so small compared to the rest of the room that way. They do absorb water freakishly fast and dry in hardly any time at all., just wish they came in a larger standard size.

    Amazing! Never seen this before. This diatomite mat is different from any other mats I used before. Basically it's a piece of rock. It absorbs the water immediately when you step on it after a shower or bath. Damp or stink problems won't bother anymore. As far as I can observe, this mat doesn't need to be washed like I used to do with my other mats. Couldn't be happier.

    I'm using this on my kitchen counter to dry the few dishes that I hand wash instead of putting in the dishwasher.     No more soggy, gross bath mat that slips when you step on it. This stone mat stays put and absorbs the water and dries quickly. With the traditional bath mat, sogginess was a breeding ground for bacteria or mold. Constant washing or replacement is required. With the stone mat there is no need for that. It is stone so it’s not like stepping on a traditional bath mat or memory foam mat, but then again you don’t spend time hanging out in a bath mat. I am very satisfied with this purchase and will be buying more in the future.
