The curling is great for the ends of your hair, but if you have really long hair and want ringlets/waves all the way through, this is not the tool for you. Overall, for the price, it's completely worth it.

This is the first flat iron that I've had, so I can't compare it to others, but it does exactly what I need. I just use it to give my bangs a little curl. It's a nice compact size, and it heats up fast. My hair is already straight, so I haven't tried straightening.
