If you’re new to learning guitar you know your fingertips are tender. I mess around with this thing while watching tv to help me develop calluses and to practice chord shapes, building strength and desensitizing my fingers without irritating the rest of the house.

No its not tunable. Its to practice chords. I took the lower two strings off for practicing baratone uke chords. It also gets those soft fingertips to callous up. I take some on line courses and use the pocket guitar to virtually play along.

This is a tool more than an instrument. It is good for practicing chord transitions or note progressions that are within 5 frets (like many scales). It has become useful when waiting to pick someone up or a little novelty to show off. This tool is not meant to create music and I wouldn't bother trying to tune it. For the price it was a worth while purchase to pull out when passing time in the car.
