I haven't tried it for my neck but I can say that as a knee protector it's great! Had knee replacement surgery and was worried about my wound when I got home to my 7 cats. I use this pillow over my knee when I sleep to protect the incision from pouncing cats and claws.

I for medical reasons need to be elevated. Nothing I bought helped, not any wedge or pillow. This little pillow for some reason caught my attention. Honestly, if I would have tried analyzing it, I would have said this is too small to be of any use. Turns out this is PERFECT. I use it as a base for two soft blankets I put over it to help me be elevated and to have softness against my face. It is firm and I never sink. Before this pillow, I had to always adjust the blankets all night to any type of pillow I was using as my head eventually would sink in. .
