    I know there are reviews out there about the power of this device or how it works. But our 6 year old daughter absolutely loved it. I can remember working on a pottery wheel in middle school and it is not very easy to make cups and bowls and they collapse pretty easily. However, with this kit I like creative approach that they took to include a dome mold in the middle. It is a really practical way to make this easy and fun to use. You basically create the basic shape over the mold, then spray some water and your child can then use their hands for the final shaping. Sure it isn't the most powerful motor, but with the mold approach you don't really need it. The clay discs aren't the cheapest, but they do work well.

    This is a pretty inexpensive toy, and I had read the reviews, so I wasn't expecting all that much. BUT my daughter was able to complete one of the projects, from start to finish, 100% on her own - and she had a blast doing it. The instructions for the seashell speaker she made only said to spray 10-12 sprays of water on it one time, which wasn't anywhere near enough. She had to continually spray the shell with water as she was forming it, using the majority of the water in the included spray bottle by the end. At times, holes would from, so she simply took clay from a thicker area and applied it to the holes. Now, the hard part is waiting for it to dry overnight so she can paint it :) I'll update with how that goes once she's finished. In the meantime, she is using the leftover clay from this project to form the letters of her name :)
