    I bought this for my grandson. He wanted to learn to play chess. The pieces are small enough for his hands (he is 7) and distinctive, so he can tell them apart. The only concern was the board was completely glass, which is what he wanted, but could be an opportunity for a younger person. He loves it though and plays daily now.

    For an affordable chess set this is made very well. There are no burrs or nicks in the glass pieces, edges are nice and smooth. The frosted pieces are all frosted, not half done like some I have had in the past. The boards squares are evenly marked, and again the frosted parts are fully frosted. The styrofoam box to hold all the pieces should protect them well between games. I also noticed that the pieces do look different, i.e. you can easily tell your Rook from pawn, from bishop etc. The felt on the bottoms is a little cheap, and wasn't fully on some pieces. They are easy to stick back down, and there are even extras sent along with the set to replace when needed. I did receive a discount for my honest review.

    I received the 10 inch board in perfect condition, although i preferred the 14 inch board but it was not available... the pieces were perfect except for a few of them had the pads on the bottom coming off but they gave us a few more so that's a mute point... the board itself is beautiful its clear and frosted but you have to place it on a dark surface... overall a good purchase...

    Over all a very good experience. Customer service was excellent-very responsive and patient. I had my pieces, which matched perfectly, within a week of finally ordering. That is really the only problem; the pieces are so often unavailable. Once I get the e-mail, and I am able to respond quickly, the process is very smooth. I am on back order for a complete set and two replacement pieces for an existing set. With apologies to Tom Petty, the waiting is the hardest part.
