I bought this for future DIY and art projects. Saw a video of one randomly online and it looked so cool I had to get one. My wife does lots of art and crafts and DIY and she loves tools. She and I installed vinyl plank flooring ourselves about a year ago, and one of these would have made things so much easier than making paper templates with tape. We tested it out on a curved surface to see how it does. Never used one before, so here's what we learned: •You may have to manually push a few of the pins directly near the ends of the thing you are trying to replicate. So for us, we had to push the one or two pins on the very top and very bottom in order to get the most accurate shape possible •When you trace it with a pencil, you will get a stair-step zig zag pattern at first, so you need to smooth out the lines (see photos 2 & 3) •Don't forget to mark the end points so you get the depth correct (we forgot to do that and cut our test paper too short; see last photo) Last photo shows result of using this gauge to make a paper template out of cardstock paper. It got the curve pretty dead-on. We are impressed and glad we got this gadget. Also the locking mechanism works well. You have to push the pins pretty hard to get them to move if the thing is locked so this is good.

I saw this on a video and thought it was a genius idea. My husband and I do most things ourselves and had done hardwood floors in the entire house and tiles in the bathrooms and laundry room. Man, do I wish we would've had this back then for all the door frames cutting and the toilet too. We moved to another house with mostly carpet and are getting ready to do this all over again, but this time around we are getting mayor help with the countour gauge. We did a little trial test with a door frame, what a dream, after the cut it fit like a glove, no more cutting the same piece just bits at a time for a perfect fit. Just one measure, one cut, perfect fit, it doesn't get any easier. We are very excited for our project to begin.

I bought this for my husband because under my kitchen sink our kitchen guy left a huge opening behind pipes. How in the world can he fix this (the large opening allows in bitter cold air and I'm afraid a creepy mouse might perhaps come through it!) I saw this gadget and think it will definitely make the job easy now (no excuses) to create a template around the pipes, cut out a thin piece of wood and close up that large opening.

Excellent product! I’ve been in construction for over 35yrs. Well I had a flooring job come up and could not my contour gauge. I decided to go ahead and order one. This gauge proved to be far superior to my old gauge. It was very easy to use and even though I eventually found my old gauge I’ll continue to use this one. The overall speed and ease this model offers made quick work of the flooring I installed. I would recommend this to anyone, novice or professional.

I'm working on projects due to the "stay at home" rules. Laying kitchen tiles is top of the list and this gadget is ingenious. It is making cutting tiles in odd shapes a breeze. My tool room will never be without these. They are a simple design and should last many years. If you have ever struggled with tracing and cutting odd shapes, I would highly recommend this tool.
